Large novel enriched with TH animations

Hello

I want to create an interactive novel enriched with sprite sheet animations and I don't know how to go about it.

  1. Type of export

I have created a large InDesign document of 290 pages and wanted to export it as a fixed layout EPUB3. The export lasted too long and I had to interrupt it three times. Eventually, I exported it as a reflowable layout EPUB3. The InDesign document can be downloaded from my web page: Tale of Tales

I think I need to work with the fixed layout because the novel is full of illustrations and animations. What could be the cause of this issue? Can I work with the reflowable layout?

  1. Size of the novel

The novel has 50 chapters and is 290 pages long. I think it would be better to create a separate document for each chapter.

Is it possible to embed sprite sheet animations in an InDesign document, export it as an EPUB3 and then edit the document - along with all other chapters - in and editor like Sigil and OxygenXML?

I don't have specific answers to the other questions, but to answer this part:

Yes with Hype. You'd make your animation and choose File > Export as HTML5 > OAM Widget… and then can drag the resulting .oam into InDesign.
