Welcome on board! Please introduce yourself 🖐

Hey guys! I'm a graphic designer from Estonia. I'm using Hype for animated banner ads. Other than Hype, I'm a daily user of Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign and After Effects. At the moment I am slowly learning how to code. My favourite animated movie is Spirited Away. :v:

Hi guys!

I think the time to express my gratitude to you and the product you have created is now!

I'm Deyan, from Bulgaria, and my field of working is visual arts. 9 years ago I had an idea to make a web series with an adventure theme. I have been fortunate to be surrounded by many like-minded friends and together we have embarked on this adventure. We assigned our roles, we shot many of the scenes, but all this time, I couldn't answer one question: What exactly means web series? I wasn't satisfied with the notion that if we uploaded our videos to YouTube, that made them web series. For me, it's more inherent to people like us who don't have connections in TV and cinemas and so we use internet platforms to show our art. If a TV series is uploaded to the internet, does that make it a web series? If a film, after it has toured the cinemas of the world, is published by an internet platform, would that make it a web film? I was thinking, what if we dressed up our web series in such a way that even if we wanted to, we couldn't show it on TV or cinema? It would then really fit the definition of web. And so I came up with the idea of making it interactive and making each episode a web page where users play out the action. Thus was born our nine-episode interactive web series called Drama in Panama.

But then came the big problem. I don't understand code writing. Yes, I've done a lot of websites, but only the visual side of them. And our idea turned out to be so complicated that no coders in Bulgaria dared to take on the task. Also, our project has no budget. So how do I contact a studio abroad to develope our project?

Then I met you, Tumult Hype. You saved our project! For someone like me who has never written code, it was a real pleasure to work with your product. For me, this is one of the most intuitive and easy to use programs. If only it were the same with Adobe products.. They have to learn from you. I managed to do in a few months what professional programmers were afraid to start. If it wasn't Tumult Hype and your responsiveness here on this forum, we wouldn't have seen our project completed. Thanks to @jonathan, @Daniel, @MaxZieb and everyone else who helped me during this time! At the end of each episode I've written my thanks to you and your product!

For those who are still wondering if Tumult Hype is worth it, I will say that Hype does wonders and don't waste your time with anything else. Buy Hype, start studying it and implement your ideas!

Thank you again and see you soon!

Wow, Drama in Panama is insane in the best possible way. This is a massive achievement in web-based storytelling.

I can't even begin to imagine the amount of work (and love) that you put into it; the planning alone must have been quite an adventure. The layout/storyboarding is highly effective and the points of interaction do a great job to keep engagement high throughout the chapters.

This is a great example of how the web's interactivity can make storytelling more compelling than a video, and I hope that it gains an audience for other creators to learn from.

Beyond this, it works very well technically. All the scrolling is fluid, there were no loading delays, and the audio and videos are perfectly synced.

It's absolutely wonderful as a tool creator to see a project like this come along. (We have some questions for you about how you accomplished certain parts and will be reaching out)

Congratulations and glad to have you here!!

I rejoiced as a child at your reaction! Thanks for the kind words!

I am considering making a series of publications in which to demonstrate the most important things that form the project. Maybe it will be better to create video examples. I will take care of that.

Without Hype the project would not have been realized! Gratitude is mine.

jonathan has said it all, I have never seen a display like this. Amazing, bravo.

I was thinking about that, when the project was mentioned in the… 🕹 "Year of Fun" - #24 by dsedlarski …thread. I don't think it's a game, but I couldn't classify it as anything else either. Is this a new genre?

It reminds me of Apple's product pages, but this is like another level beyond as it involves storytelling. It's also really smooth. When looking at the 2013 Mac Pro page, I felt as if the navigation was getting in the way of the information. I didn't have that problem with Drama In Panama, as if the navigation was adding to the story, to the mystery.

That's cool! :sunglasses:

As an instructional designer and a Hype fan, your project is inspiring. Thank you!! Echoing all that has already been said by the others. Specifically as an example of seamless, interactive storytelling.

Hello everyone; my name is Joshua J Byrne and I am a developer and freelancer. I specifically work in the learning sciences field. I have been using hype since 2014 and have found it to be a great tool. I am a bit of a Adobe guy so flash is one of my first animation tools. I also really enjoy Sketch and I think it works well with Hype. My favorite animated film would be "[The Snowman (1982)" mostly because of the use of animation/music and lack of narration.

Hello - My name is Randy, known here as "Powersolo". I'm so happy that I found Hype 4 years ago. I swear it's been longer than that! It's seems like it's been a decade ago. When I first got started in graphics, there were no computers at all and I did everything by hand. Then I started in the 80's on a Mac and never looked back. I started using Macromedia in the late 90's and then looked at Adobe's early animation software, can't remember the name, then Flash. I was never a programmer, always a graphics guy. 3D, Illustrator, Quark, Photoshop. I remember pre photoshop software that could only use 256 shades of grey, no color, thank you Mac II! I produced many websites with flash and faced many disappointments due to my lack of programming skills, but I kept on. I later made a calculator for products and produced an app for the AppStore. But I couldn't do the things I used to do with Flash and it was getting harder and harder to get by without skills. My main concentration has been on 3D, photography and print advertising. But Hype allowed me to do a lot of the things I had done in Flash years before. No, not EVERYTHING, but close and it made me feel at home again. There are many things I miss about Flash, but also many things I don't. After all, I'm a graphics guy first. I have produced many website prototypes, applications, ads and gifs for social media with Hype and I'm soooooo happy that it came along. I'd love to see it really take off. I've seen Blender do the same through the years and it finally went to new heights with version 2.8. If I knew more Javascript, I'd probably be a lot better at Hype. (How many times have I heard that?!) I'm retiring next year but I hope somehow to keep using Hype to make more stuff. It will be competing with the guitar, banjo, fiddle, harmonica and fishing and the occasional beer. I think several of us here on the forum need to push it's use and really get people inspired to do more and encourage the makers to carry it further. I'd love to see this platform explode in the next few years! Let's make it happen! Cheers.

Hello everyone, my name is Eric. A graphic designer/multimedia/animator since 1997 and I live in Kansas. I speak English only, but enjoy trying to learn German.

I don't like code. In fact, I hate it, but I'm indebted to those who DO like code and have created applications such as Hype! (I love you!)

I would call myself a Hype novice, but always looking to learn more and push its limits more. My first interactive software ever used was Director. After Effects and Cinema 4D are my other tools of choice, but interactive design is where my true love lies.

My current Hype project is a passion project that combines my love of board games and interactive story-telling. You can check out the interactive part here:

And if you're interested in the game itself, you can check it out here:

And I'm always looking for feedback, comments and advice on how to make things better!

Thank you!

Hello.
My name is Igor Freiberger. I'm an independent type designer from Porto Alegre, Brazil. I speak Portuguese, Spanish, English, and a bit of French.

I created some very basic things with Hype, but now I decided to go deeper in order to build a site demonstrating the fonts I create.

From the app to the forums, everything is very well done here. And the community is amazing. Thanks!

Hi everyone. My name is Roy and I've built an ad validation tool called AdValify.io. I'm here on this forum to seek for suggestions and discuss how creative designers like you handle the ad validation part.

I'm working in the ad tech industry since 2011, and my native language is English (and PHP). I've not much experience with Hype myself, but the people I help with ad validation do use Hype a lot. This forum helps me to find solutions regarding common issues, like optimizing the initial load and host-initiated subload.

If you have questions regarding ad validation, feel free to reach out.

The app is supposed to function where you watch the in-game cutscenes as comics or manga.
Still figuring outflow.

I'd say I'm more advanced than just a beginner but I don't think I command scripts like everyone else here can, still, I think Tumult Hypes is a great tool.

My favorite tool is probably Photoshop beyond Hippani which to me is the PC Tumult equivalent though it may or may not include things Tumult does as I'm still learning.

FIrst tool? Flash and Swish Max, as far as animating went.

Favorite animated film? Princess Monosuke, Cowboy Bebop, Titan A.E, Ninja Scroll, Afro Samurai, & Digimon the Movie are all pretty up there. Digimon THe mOvie is very akin to Summer Wars really love that kind of stylization.

I THINK that's everything.
Thanks so much for reaching out. Hope to help get more people aware of Tumult 's capabilities. Any help received? Thanks in advance.

I run a Digital agency in the U.K (ets 2003). We specialise in creating digital creative for the iGaming industry, in which we have worked in for nearly 2 decades.

We use Hype for creating custom HTML5 banners for iGaming clients, where their normal banner builders do not offer the level of custom animation required.

I am Daniele Giampà and I am from the City of Zürich. In 2008, when I was an undergraduate, I discovered electronic literature aka digital storytelling and was fascinated by the idea to combine literature and linguistics with New Media. I joined the Electronic Literature Organization, participated in various projects in this field and wrote a masters thesis on this subject in 2012.

Just when I was about to finish my thesis, I discovered ebooks in EPUB format which share many aspects of electronic literature. Later in 2015, I took a course in ebook creation and decided to become digital publisher. In 2018, I got a PhD position in London and I chose to write about enhanced ebooks. Many publishing experts were not familiar with this technology and some said that I was at very edge of technology. So, in 2020, I founded the digital-only publishing company EDGE DPUB LTD.
Visit page: https://www.edgedpub.com/

The company follows the principles of the DIY-culture and Open-Source technology. The company's logo depicts an open book symbolised by two brackets which refer to the practice of coding. I strive to be always at the edge of technology. I work with Adobe, PubCoder, Oxygen Editor, Tumult Hype, CiruclarFlo, HTML, CSS, Javascript, SVG. I would like to create interactive and multimedia graphic novels. That is how I came to discover TH.

I am at the very beginning of my career and there are many skills and technologies that I have to learn.

  • Where do you call home? London
  • What is your native language? German, Italian
  • What is your favorite animated film? Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) the first movie I saw in a cinema.
