Project Share: Interactive Spin-to-Decide Wheel

Hi everyone! I’ve been working on an interactive Yes or No Wheel built using Tumult Hype. My goal was to create a lightweight, responsive decision-maker that feels fluid on both desktop and mobile devices.

Key Features & Technical Details

  • Smooth Physics: Used Hype’s timeline and easing functions to simulate a natural wheel deceleration.

  • JavaScript Logic: Implemented a simple script to ensure the 'result' aligns perfectly with the wheel's final rotation degree.

  • SVG Optimized: All assets are vector-based to keep the export size minimal and the visuals crisp on Retina displays.

What I’m Looking For "I'd love to get the community's feedback on the spin physics. Does the timing feel natural to you? Also, if anyone has tips on better ways to handle the 'Winner' pop-up logic within Hype scenes, I’m all ears!"

I think it works well enough, but here's a couple ideas to take it to the next level:

  • In "Wheel of Fortune" each piece had little pegs that the indicator arrow would hit up against. This gave a bit more weight and animation when it would flap back and forth after hitting them
  • You can probably have the spin slow down at a lower rate so there's more anticipation as to where it will land

Nice project,

The wheel feels smooth and responsive especially on mobile. I also like that you used SVG assets to keep everything crisp and lightweight. The spin timing felt pretty natural to me overall. For the winner pop-up, maybe triggering it after the final easing completes could make the transition even cleaner.

Great work and thanks for sharing!
