I’m a Windows user. I purchased Hype4 on the store and am attempting to install it on a managed virtual Mac via MacinCloud. To install it on my image I had two options, 1) to have MacinCloud admins install it for me or, 2) install it through the Apple Store. I installed it through the store.
Now, when I run it I don’t have an option to enter my serial number. I only have the option to Restore Purchases but I didn’t buy it through the store so it can’t find purchases. How do I enter my serial number?
Although it’s not an answer to your license question. I’m wondering why you choose to get a $25/m virtual Mac, instead of getting a secondhand Mac Mini (either M1 or M2)? Which are more then fine to run Hype and other graphical tools, for less then the price of a year’s full subscription of that virtual Mac ($200-300).
Good question. I considered that option. The primary reason for going with this solution is that I really only have a need for a Mac for this school semester. I’m taking a course that requires Hype but I only really need it for this semester. I’m only going to keep the virtual Mac for the semester then let it drop. This gives me access to what I need without having hardware that I don’t need afterward. I can cover these costs with school grant money so the net cost to my pocketbook is minimal.
To shed a little more light - Apple does not allow non-app-store registration in app-store apps. Therefore you cannot use a serial number with the mac app store version. Instead you would need to use the direct download version if you purchased with a serial via the Tumult Store.
While the Solution works, In the long run you are just throwing money out, instead you can go with like @BannerMan mentioned buy a second hand Mac perhaps an Intel variant Mac which will enable you to run both MacOS and Windows 11 Pro via different Partitions. Im doing just that on a my MacPro 2019 Intel Mac it works flawlessly.
