Direct ChatGPT Integration with Tumult Hype 4

To management:

At present, ChatGPT assists me with website production in Tumult Hype 4, primarily after the HTML has been generated. It helps with tasks such as reviewing exported files, improving SEO metadata, checking links, organizing image filenames and alt text, and preparing desktop and mobile pages for upload.

It would be extremely valuable if ChatGPT could connect directly with Hype 4. That would allow it to assist with many time-consuming production tasks within the application itself—such as checking typography and layout consistency, reviewing links and page structure, managing image descriptions, and preparing pages for export—while the I remains in control of all creative decisions

That's sadly not possible. What you could do is try to use the Open AI Codex app and "Computer Use".

Definitely a good idea for our modern age; I think LLMs can contribute a lot to all parts (from creation to final production checks). Thanks for the request :).

Thanks for the encouraging reply, Jonathan!

Out of curiosity, is exposing an interface or API for LLM integration something the Hype team has considered? It seems like a natural next step if AI is going to contribute to every stage of the workflow—from creation to final production checks.

I’ve been using ChatGPT extensively alongside Hype, and it’s already become an invaluable part of my workflow. Being able to connect it directly to Hype would be a game changer.

There was some discussion here… How Could Hype Plug Into Apple Intelligence? …which is funny because it seems I ended the conversation with some nice words about Pixelmator — and then Apple bought them. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It's also been a suggestion on this list… Ideas For Hype 5 Features… …but it wasn't so clear, so I updated the “Automation” section.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of third-party AI integration with Hype. Yet, after seeing some of the news from this year's WWDC, it seems like there's even more potential now for Hype to add AI features. Apple has a lot of information about that…

I'm not exactly sure where Tumult could take advantage of the new features though.

  • Would adding “Shortcuts” “Actions” help with automation? :man_shrugging:t2:
  • Does Tumult want to take advantage of the local AI / Siri?
  • Does Tumult want Hype to connect with third-party agents?

There's a serious push in tech towards AI, but a lot of people hate it. On YouTube, even if I post a picture or use an AI thumbnail, I get significant backlash. People don't seem to like AI. And for coding, how can AI be trusted? In general, AI often makes mistakes, with confidence. And after you correct it, there's an apology, and then it makes new mistakes — also with confidence!

One of the things that was suggested was Apple Image Playground integration. Wow! I posted a simple happy anniversary picture and the negative feedback was instant.

…but for editing, I do use Apple's AI to check for typos. That is nice.

Also, I have used Gemma 4:e4b on an almost six year old Mac. (M1 Macbook Air) It was surprising how well it worked. It was kinda creepy to see it “thinking”.

Although, it was nice to see such old hardware staying somewhat useful with the latest happenings in tech, especially since upgrading my Apple hardware seems incredibly unlikely in the near future.

$249 for a 2022 Apple TV? Have they gone mad? I realize there's a shortage of RAM and storage, but that's absurd!

I think what people hate are the countless cheap AI images and AI videos.
AI used to generate or enhance HTML or JavaScript elements will be of exactly 0.0 interest to people out there.

Not only will virtually no one ever notice—it also makes absolutely no difference to any kind of code how or by whom it was generated.

Codex, Desktop, or CoWork can be extremely helpful. However, I don’t know if or how that might work in conjunction with Hype, because I’ve never tried it.

But we should definitely keep that option open, because the integration of AIs will become the absolute standard sooner rather than later.

Absolutely! There's not presently a surface to expose though; Hype v4 doesn't really have a mechanism that allows for external control. We've long wanted to either allow AppleScript or a command-line interface for controlling Hype, but for various reasons (product maturity, end user adoption vs significant development cost, etc.) it hadn't been enough of a priority to implement. LLMs change the equation for sure (in both how users will make use and development cost). If this existed, then it would just be a bit of bridging code for LLMs to make full use of the app.

JXA, this is your moment to shine. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
