Creating a line draw effect from an imported vector shape

Hello,
I'm trying to create the effect of a shape drawing on (the almost circle shape in the attached hype file). I've watched several tutorials about how how to do this using a javascript function, but it's not working for me. Does anyone have any tips?

you can not animate imported svgs

You could use a tool like Vivus (instant). I often use it for graphics like this. In the attached example you´ll find an illustrator SVG animated with vivus.
