Can we have a real Grid?

As Massimo Vignelli once said “Columns is not a grid it is a silly thing”.

I would love to see a basic grid, just like in Illustrator or Photoshop, with some basic options:
Grid Line Every
Subdivisions
Grid Color
Grid in Back

Thanks for the feedback! Using the combination of guides and grid can probably get close, but not entirely there now.
