Performance issue in Chrome on Macs with large displays

Hello,

I’m experiencing a performance issue with the large background animation in Chrome on Macs with large displays (4K and 5K resolutions). The same may be true with Windows, don’t know.

Here’s the animation in question: http://getmain17.site-review.net/assets/animation/index.html

My thoughts and observations on the issue:

  1. It’s notable that the animation runs fine in Safari on the same hardware. That’s probably Apple having more knowhow to get things to render well vs. Google.
  2. In Chrome the animations return to decent performance on the same high resolution monitors when the window dimensions are reduced to what a “normal” monitor would have. The animation also runs smooth on the same computer on a smaller second monitor.

Any thoughts from anyone?

Thanks,
Goran

Hi Goran:

I think this is an issue with the graphics requirements of high resolution screens. Are you still hitting this issue? I have a 3840x2400 display and it works well for me.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you!
