It looks like there's some bad interaction between vimeo and safari. If you open even on the mac version of Safari and look at the Developer Tools Network tab, you'll see that it is going nuts downloading 1 GB worth of data over ~3,000 files! This doesn't reproduce in Chrome.
I see you already have some code that is meant to clear out the vimeo div on the scene unload. I suspect the workaround solution would be to add a scene load handler that sets this div to the inner html. Then just have that rectangle have no inner html contents in the hype scene editor itself.
(Note that Hype does set the contents of the inner html of all elements across all scenes when first loading)
My recommendation would be to copy your initial scene and one of the scenes with a vimeo video out and try this, and see if it helps.
