Document Scaling

Hi all,

I’m new to Hype and have been to this page but still can’t figure out how to scale a document and its elements the way I want to: http://tumult.com/hype/documentation/3.0/#document-scaling

What I’m after is the same as if you were scaling a jpg based on browser width. At a wide browser width the image has its proportions and fills the browser width. As you bring the browser width smaller the image gets smaller, retaining its proportions. Each pixel in the jpg stays in its same relative place. Everything scales proportionally smaller.

Is there a way to do this in Hype?

Everything I try requires pinning and “shrinking to fit” every individual element, but they move all over the place compared to the background. I just want it all to scale down proportionally and relative position. Just thinking out loud: Does every element need to be inside a div and then absolute positions set relative to that somehow?

It would be great if there were something like the “responsive scaling” button in Adobe Edge where everything you do and put on the stage just scales automatically retaining its relative position: text, shapes, images.

Please forgive me if I’m missing something obvious. Grateful for any help you can offer!

Thanks!

Ha, and your popup says to include a zip, then it says new users can’t upload attachments. So, I can’t show you what I mean. But I’m placing elements on the stage, and for each, turning on all the arrows and pins and setting “shrink to fit”.

Hype doesn’t yet have support for proportional scaling. For true proportional scaling this is still your option: http://hype.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/259191-responsive-size-for-your-project-resizing-your-document-to-fit-in-a-window-or-element.

We hope to improve this in a future update. Thanks for the suggestion!

Ok, thanks for the info.

Here is the current method of accomplishing this: Proportionally scaling a Tumult Hype document based on the browser width
